Southern California-based cannabis tech company BudTrader.com recently announced via their Instagram account a new addition to their Board of Directors. MMA star Ian “Uncle Creepy” McCall is joining NFL star Marvin Washington on BudTrader’s board.

McCall is no stranger to BudTrader, having grown up in Southern California with CEO Brad McLaughlin. According to The Marijuana Journal, the two have been getting into shenanigans since their early childhood.
“In 4th grade, Ian almost got us kicked out of summer camp. He convinced me to sneak out to meet girls in the middle of the night,” McLaughlin told The Marijuana Journal. “We got caught by a Junior Counselor and pulled in to the Camp Director’s office. Somehow, we were able to talk our way out of trouble that night! Ian and I have always made a great team. Like Kobe and Shaq!

Well, maybe not Kobe and Shaq…
The former UFC champ was also pretty stoked to announce the news via his Instagram.

It’s not just a childhood bond that drove McCall to invest in BudTrader. He believes very strongly in the platform, as he told The Marijuana Journal:
I have been a cannabis patient and advocate for some time, even before it was popular to admit it. Cannabis is going to grow into a 100 billion dollar industry, and I want to get in on the green rush but I also want to help people. To me, BudTrader is the platform that helps people make money but they also help people. I told Brad I believe he and BudTrader are going to save the world. Watch out Facebook and Google – BudTrader is going to be not only the biggest cannabis platform, but the biggest social media platform too, soon enough.
McLaughlin has been making waves in the political spectrum recently, lobbying for cannabis legalization with President Trump and some of Washington, D.C.’s most prominent lawmakers. He’s also had a successful San Diego Comic-Con offsite and is determined to take the cannabis industry into the mainstream.
